What is Takoyaki?
|
Takoyaki is a traditional Japanese cuisine that literally means "fried octopus balls". The classic takoyaki snack originated from Osaka, Japan prepared using a heavy plate made from cast-iron. Traditionally, Osaka's takoyaki is made using batter, diced baby octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, green onion, okonomiyaki sauce, green laver, mayonnaise and katsuboshi. The popular Japanese snack eventually reached Asian to Western countries populating the Japanese-oriented Takoyaki.
In the Philippines, most consumers who've tasted takoyaki did not actually like the taste of the product especially with the fishy flavor it usually has. Hence, TK Takoyaki developed their own Philippine-version of takoyaki enveloping the sweet and sour taste of sauces. TK Takoyaki eventually grew as a profitable fast food business catering not only to Japanese and/or Western individuals, but also the Filipino consumers.
Takoyaki has been introduced to Filipino consumers as early as 1968. After few years, many from the metropolitan had tasted the curious-looking balls and began the addiction. During the 1990s, entrepreneurs from different parts of the Philippines realized the potential expansion of this product as a common street food similar to squid balls, fish balls, etc. As the awareness grew, investors and entrepreneurs from across the country reinvented takoyaki in order to adapt to the Filipino taste. Unfortunately, only few succeeded. As the market experience the few successful takoyaki entrepreneurs, market awareness grew exponentially.
Currently, takoyaki has become well-known to almost all provinces in the Philippines especially in Metro Manila where tons of generic competitors are available. Unfortunately, not all takoyaki establishments appeal to consumers' preferences. Hence, franchisees must consider a careful pick of franchising establishment to make their investment worth investing. With TK Takoyaki, we are proud to say that we are not just part of the successful reinventors of takoyaki but also one of the best tasting takoyaki in the Philippines. Our consumers can testify these to all our franchisees; hence, every branch of TK Takoyaki has always experienced consistent financial returns and, most of all, quick return of investments.
